Anita Andres was born to Henry and Loretto Gilham in 1923 and passed away September 12, 2021. She had an older sister, Rosemary, and younger brother, Henry (Hank) who preceded her in death. Anita married Ernest Andres in 1946 (who passed away in 2008) and they had four children together; Dolores (Dee), Paul, Peter, and Loretta. Anita greatly loved her 9 Grandchildren, 14 Great-Grandchildren, and Great-Great Grandchildren. They were the light of her life and hearing about their adventures brought her great joy! Anita enjoyed reading, riding her bicycle, spending time with her family and her cat.
Anita was a life-long learner, taking various classes throughout her adult life. She worked for Rumiano Cheese Co. as a bookkeeper for 30 years, Anita graduated with honors from Butte College with an AA degree in accounting in 1993. Anita was also very involved with St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Orland, serving on the Altar Society for many years. She was an organist for the church until her late eighties. After retiring, Anita kept the books for her son's business until her early 90's. Anita was strong, caring, and gentle woman who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Rosary services to celebrate Anita's life will be held October 14th at 5:30PM at St. Dominic's for family and close friends. All are welcome to attend the Funeral Mass on October 15th at 10:30AM, which will take place at St. Dominic's Catholic Church, followed by the graveside service at the Catholic Cemetery outside of Orland. A potluck reception will follow at St. Dominic's Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Dominic's Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), or the Alzheimer's Association.
