Obituary

Benjiman Lyle Shriver, 92, of Orland, CA, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025, at Bethany Nursing Home in Ripon, California.  Born on October 23, 1932, in Clio, Iowa.  He was a loving husband, devoted father, and cherished friend.

Lyle served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1956 as an Aviation Ordnanceman on the USS Oriskany during the Korean War.  While in the Navy, he met the love of his life, Jackie Richardson who became his wife in June 1955.  Together, they shared a lifelong bond, both of faith and love.  He gave his heart to Christ at Youth for Christ and remained a devoted Christian throughout his life, alongside his beloved wife.

When they moved to Orland, California, they raised their family on their farm.  His family was the center of his world, and he treasured each moment spent with them.

He was a Postal Carrier, dedicating many years to serving his community with pride and kindness.  He was known for his fun-loving, compassionate and charismatic nature.  He had a remarkable ability to bring joy to any room.  He had a good sense of humor, and his infectious laugh, winks, and positive energy were a gift to those around him.  His sensitive heart and caring spirit left an indelible mark on everyone he met.

Lyle was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie.  He is survived by his five children, Cathy Riddle (Ron), Karen Reichle (Bill), Donna Mackey (Lenn), Kenny Shriver (Tammy), Jim Shriver (Rose).  He has eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.  They will continue to carry forward the lessons of love, faith, and kindness he instilled in them.  He will also be dearly missed by his extended family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, from 3pm-7pm and a Celebration of Lyle's life will be held on Thursday. January 9, 2025, at 10:00am at First Christian Church in Orland, CA, where loved ones will gather to honor his memory and the legacy of love, faith, and laughter he leaves behind.

We want to thank the staff at Bethany Home for their loving care of our father.
