OBITUARY

CHARLES "CHUCK" HINZ

Charles "Chuck" Hinz passed away on June 15, 2021, af the age of 83 in Chico, CA of natural causes.  Chuck is survived by his daughters Salina Rhodes, her husband Tim (Chico, CA), Tresi Yinger, her husband Kent (Santa Rosa, CA), David Hinz, his wife Teri (Placerville, CA) and Darrell Hinz (Placerville, CA).  Chuck also had 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Chuck was born on September 30, 1937, in Red Bluff, CA to Alden "Al" Hinz, d.1971, and Gretchen Hinz, d. 1995..  He was raised in Orland, CA and graduated from Orland High School in 1955 where he ran track and played some football.  He went on to Chico State where he graduated in 1959 with a Bachelors Degree in Recreation and Parks Management and continued to run track.  After graduation he lived for a short time in Paradise, CA and worked for the Paradise Recreation District.  He then moved on with his family to Auburn, CA and worked for the Auburn Recreation District.  Moving to Placerville, CA in 1964, he worked for the City of Placerville Recreation and Parks Department where he worked for many years.  Later in life he worked as a Real Estate appraiser primarily in El Dorado County until retirement.  He moved to Chico, CA in 2013 to be near some family.

Chuck loved all sports!  All of his children and grandchildren participated in sports at one time or another and when Chuck was able he really enjoyed watching and supporting them.   He also spent endless hours either attending or watching all of his favorite teams such as the San Francisco 49er's, San Francisco Giants and Golden State Warriors.  Chuck enjoyed venturing into the outdoors camping with the kids, driving in the Jeepers Jamboree in the Rubicon near Tahoe with his Willie's jeep that had been left to him by his father as well as other fun days driving with the kids in the jeep.  He also really enjoyed playing a gutbucket in a country western band with his friends and although not famous they had a great time and were really good!

Chuck will be missed by all that knew him as he loved people, having fun and could always tell a great story. Donations can be made in Charles Hinz name to Enloe Hospice.  Private burial will be held at Germantown Cemetery in Artois, CA with immediate family only.
