Clarice's journey began in 1931, born to Clarence and Hazel Mower who had moved from Nebraska in 1920. Clarice, her sister Muriel, and brother Bob attended school on Road DD at Murdock school until 7th and 8th grade in town and Clarice graduated high school in 1948 majoring in business. Right out of high school Clarice worked part time at a local hardware store on Walker street until she got a clerical and payroll job at the Glenn County road department in Willows. Her brother Bob joined the Navy with Ted Overton and Jim Morehouse in 1948. Jim was medically discharged from the Navy and he and Clarice started dating. They were married by Reverend Robert Rankin in the Federated church on Christmas day in 1950. Jim took a shop job for a logging company at Redwood Creek in Mendocino County, so the newlyweds moved deep into the forest where the only way into Fort Bragg in the middle of winter was the Skunk train. That year Redwood Logging camp received 50 inches of rain making mud knee deep everywhere. She said they would fish for dinner and now I know why she hadn't liked fish since. After 8 months the two moved back to Orland. Jim got a job at the City of Orland in the maintenance department. Then Jim went to work at Harry Larsen's Mobile service station. Clarice went to work at the new Glenn General Hospital in the front office.

Jim and Clarice had their first son James Randall in 1954. Two years later their second son Bennett Craig. Two years after that their first daughter Polly Ann and three years later a second daughter Sari Rebecca. With all of those children there was no time for a job for Clarice at that time. Jim and his brother-in-law Charles Gundry started G&M sheet metal and air conditioning shop. Once the kids were all in school Clarice went to work in the office for Dr. Fred Ely. Jim and Clarice bought another air conditioning company in 1971 where Clarice ran the office. All of the kids worked for them at one time or another. The Coleman Company supplied Jim and Clarice with world travel for selling their heating and air conditioning products. Jim passed away in 1986, but the Morehouse Air Conditioning Service still continues.

In 1994 Clarice remarried to Floyd Morrill, their marriage lasted 21 years until Floyd passed away in 2015. Floyd and Clarice enjoyed traveling around the U.S.A.. They enjoyed spending time with Floyd's four children, Rick, Susan, Cindy and Kipp.

In 1969 Clarice and Jim bought a house in McCloud California that was nicknamed "the Cabin" And everyone enjoyed time with family and friends at the cabin. The cabin was sold in 2021 when she could no longer stay there by herself.

Clarice and Jim's children:

James Randall Morehouse passed away in 2021 and is survived by his wife Ruth, his Daughter Rose Morehouse, step son James and step daughter Kim. Step daughters Loren and April have passed away since he passed away.

Bennett lives in Orland with his wife Kialynne, they have two children. Daughter Megan LaCore and her husband Mark LaCore and their son Parker live in San Jose, Ca.. and Son Madison Morehouse and his wife Catie Morehouse live in Idaho.

Polly Lives in Santa Rosa, Ca. with her husband Wayne Griffith. They have two children. Daughter Amy Griffith lives in Santa Rosa. Son Chance Griffith and his wife Nikki and their daughter Despina live in San Diego, Ca.

Sari Morehouse also lives in Orland Ca.

All the grandkids called Clarice Tall Grandma and she enjoyed that very much.

Polly adds: Our loving Mother worked full time (and then some) while raising four children and not once did I hear her complain or even raise her voice. She was very supportive of her family and friends, maintaining relationships for decades. She was the nicest person I ever met, treating everyone she met fairly and equally. Clarice was an incredible role model to all of us and she will be dearly missed.
