David Ross Montero passed away September 17, 2021 one month shy of his 74th Birthday. David was born at Rose Maturity Home in Orland on October 11, 1947 to Manuel "Dean" and Margaret Montero. He attended Orland Schools and proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and the US Coast Guards afterwards. He worked for P.G & E after returning from the service, then moved on to Carpentry Profession as a Handyman, and lastly working in Yard Care. He spent some time living in Petrolia, CA and Santa Barbara, CA making life long friends along the way. He returned to Orland in 2004 where he remained till his passing. He bravely battled cancer for the past 2 years, never giving up the fight. He was a very kind soul and incredibly knowledgeable in Sports Trivia especially Football. He could tell you where players played in College, Coaches, where and when they played in the NFL. He was detailed in answering every question you might ask. He worked hard all his life and always willing to help a friend. He will be missed by many.
Dave leaves behind his Brother Dean Montero (Concha) of Aptos, CA and Sisters, Darlene Wahlborg (Ed) and Mary Ann Lowe (Alan) both from Orland, 14 Nieces, Nephews, and many Cousins. Dave will be laid to rest with his mother at the Catholic Cemetery 3900 County Road P, Orland, California. Graveside Service will take place at the Cemetery Gazebo Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 10 AM. A Potluck Reception will take place afterwords. Services will be held under the direction of Sweet-Olsen Family Mortuary. In David Montero's name donations can be made to the Orland Volunteer Fire Department.
