Dennis was born on September 16, 1944. He grew up in Orland, the oldest of five brothers and sisters. Dennis proudly joined the United States Army where he distinguished himself by becoming one of the youngest military helicopter pilots ever. Dennis served in Vietnam as a gunship pilot where he received the Purple Heart.
After Vietnam, Dennis returned to Orland and married Linda Jasper. They raised two children, twins, Michael and Melissa, in the Chico area. Dennis attended Chico State University and Hastings School of Law. Dennis was a well-respected attorney in Chico for many years.
Dennis loved his children and he loved his hobbies, of which there were many. Dennis never did anything by half-measures, including his hobbies, from fly-fishing to vintage car racing. Dennis attacked them all with passion and zeal and strove to become an expert in each. His love of hobbies was only surpassed by the love of his grandson Jasper.
Dennis passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on October 3, 2023 after a short battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Linda, children Melissa (John) and Mike (Anne Marie), siblings Gaye, Kathi (Jere), Steven (Mardi), Sharon (Gary), and his grandson Jasper. There will be a gathering of friends and family on Monday, October 9 at 1:00 pm at the Jasper Ranch.
Arrangements are held under the direction of Sweet-Olsen Family Mortuary.
