Obituary

Doug was born in Long Beach California on Wednesday, September 9th 1942 and passed away on Sunday, May 21 2023 in Chico, after a long battle with cancer.

Doug is survived by his wife of 59 years, Vernetta A Ehrk and his two sons, Douglas E Ehrk and John W Ehrk all living in Northern California. Doug had 3 grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Chris and Delaney and one great grandchild, Haylee.

Doug Moved from Compton to Galt California and attended grammar school through the 8th grade and from there moved to Capay in 1956. Doug graduated from Orland High School in 1960 and married Vernetta Holderbein of Capay in February of 1964.

Doug worked at Holly Sugar Corporation in Hamilton City for 30 years until he retired in 1996. From there Doug worked for the Orland Public School District and retired from there in 2002.

Doug enjoyed deer hunting and squirrel hunting and went out with his friends and sons on many trips. Doug and his family fished on the Sacramento river almost daily in the long summer days while his boys grew up. If he was not fishing he was restoring classic cars, or land cruisers. He built up several vehicles and helped restore his son's and grandson's project cars. Doug had many other hobbies and enjoyed living on the Sacramento river, taking one of his many boats out on the water or visiting with friends.

Funeral Services will be held at Odd Fellows Cemetery 3900 County Rd P, on Friday June 9th at 10:00 AM.

A reception will follow at the Ehrk home after the service.

Arrangements are held under the direction of Sweet-Olsen Family Mortuary.
