Ernest "Ernie" Leslie Haldorson, 88, passed away on September 14, 2021 in Chico, CA. Ernie was born in Redmond, OR on December 14, 1932. The family settled in Orland in 1946 where he attended Orland High School, graduating in 1952. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1953-1955. Ernie married the love of his life, Ida Varner in 1958 and together they had 5 children. He had a passion for repairing cars from an early age and that became his lifelong career. He owned and operated Ernie's Body Shop in Orland since 1965. He also enjoyed watching Nascar races on Sundays. He loved his family and friends and whenever there was a get together Ernie would crank up a gallon or two of homemade ice cream. Ernie is survived by his wife of 62 years Ida, sons Larry of Orland, Lynn (Elke) of Chico, Lee (Sherri) of Pahrump and daughter Linda of Orland, brother Ervin of Orland and sister Bernice of Fort Bragg, and 6 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son Leslie, brothers Clifford and Harold and sister Lillian Williams. Ernie's ashes will be interred in a private ceremony at Orland Masonic Cemetery.
