Obituary

Euretta (Retta) Mae Eastlick was born to Pearl and Aletha Eastlick on February 7, 1932, in Oro Fino in Northwest California's beautiful rural mountains. Retta grew up in Scott Valley in Siskiyou County, was musically talented, played many musical instruments, and aspired to be a band teacher as an adult.

She met Edward (Ed) Pereira shortly after the end of WWII and the two of them courted, wed, and started a family. Retta had four children in the early 1950's between Southern Oregon and Northeastern California. Ed and Retta settled in Johnson Park, near Burney, in the high mountain valley area between Mount Lassen and Mount Shasta, working in the area lumber mills while the children grew up.

After the children left home, they bought an alfalfa farm in the Fall River Valley area and Retta let her talent for cooking flourish in many of the local restaurants, eventually owning her own. Some years later, they moved to Orland where they bought a Dairy Farm, were active members of the community for over 25 years, and Retta was an active member of the Catholic Church and the Altar Society.

Retta passed peacefully on August 1, 2024, and was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and her beloved husband Ed in 2018. Retta is survived by her four children, Edna Bohon, Donald (Butch) Pereira, Karol Hatcher, and Janice Kozma and her nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are held under the direction of Sweet-Olsen Family Mortuary.
