Gary Dean Goings was born on May 24, 1956 in Corning, California to Fred Junior and Lunetta Goings. As a child and into his adult life, he enjoyed many camping trips with family and friends. He would go fishing, taking long rides in the mountains, scouting for deer, and making many memories with family at one of their favorite spots in McCloud area. Deer hunting was his passion. Gary spent many years on hunting trips with his father, brothers, sons, and daughter. He especially enjoyed the out of state hunting trips.

Gary graduated from Orland High School in 1975. On June 30th, 1984, he married Aleta Zuidema. They were married almost 37 years. He worked for Simplot Growers Solutions in Orland for 40 years.

Family was his number one priority. His four grandchildren had a very special place in his heart. As a father, he spent many years being involved in Church, scouts, and sports activities with his three Children. Leading a group or watching and supporting them. Gary learned many construction skills throughout the years working with his father. He used this talent to build many things for his children, family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Lunetta Goings. Gary is survived by his wife Aleta, their children Bryan (Rachel) Goings of Greenville, Jeff (Sarah) Goings of Susanville, and Melissa (Stephen) Silva of Chico, his GrandChildren Reagan, Breya, Dean, and soon to be new little one, and Riley Mae Goings; his brothers Robert, Dennis, Ron, and Sister Julie; his Sisters-In-Law Merry Goings, Lisa Goings, Angel Goings, and Brother-In-Law Les Owen.

Gary went to be with the Lord on May 13, 2021, just shy of 65 years old. Gary was a simple and quiet man who loved the Lord and his family dearly. We will greatly miss him and the love he showed us.

There will be a Celebration of life for Gary on Saturday May 22nd, 11:00 AM, at the Providence Christian High Gymnasium (6290 County Rd 12) in Orland. Those who wish to remember Gary with a memorial donation are asked to please consider St. Judes Children's Research Hospital in lieu of flowers.
