Howard H. Bowles Jr., age 94 of Orland, passed away August 12, 2018 in Chico, CA. Howard was born June 25, 1924 in Las Vegas, New Mexico to parents Howard Bowles Sr. & Mary Bowles. He moved to Artois, CA when he was just four years old, with his mother, father and grandfather. He graduated from Willows High School, and went on to serve in the Army. On September 11, 1943, Howard married Virginia Bowles, whom he was able to enjoy 75 years of marriage with before his passing.
Howard worked as a rancher, much of the time with his father until his father's passing. After many years of ranching he then went into asphalt construction. But finally, after years of hard work, Howard went on to retire. From then on you would find Howard fishing, hunting, or camping, as these hobbies took up most of his time. He hunted out of State with his early hunting friends, and took many trips with his older hunting friends. With his family, Howard would take many hunting and fishing trips at Crescent City, and McCloud. He truly enjoyed it all. Howard was very active in his community belonging to many organizations such as; Operations Engineering Local #3, Masons, and American Legion.
He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter; Sandy Bowles, and sister; Nettie Lou Flanagan.
Howard is survived by his wife; Virginia Bowles (Orland), daughter; Cindy Jacobson, sister-in-law; Helen Mickey (Chico), 2 grandsons, 4 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, many friends, Gary and Lynda Rufner, good friends who called him Dad.
