Born May 7, 1934, Eaton, Colorado, died January 27, 2019, Orland, California. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper Lee Rice and Gladys Bernice (Brown) Mattice, wife Donna Jean (Carnagey), daughter Diana Jean Rice, brothers Robert Leroy Rice, Norman Eugene Rice (Irma), sister Marilyn Joan Beloit (Bill), stepfather Ralph H. Mattice and stepbrother Ralph M. (Mike) Mattice (Shirley).

He is survived by his children Debra Ann Cufaude (Bill), Gold Hill, OR, Gerald Wayne Rice (Janice), Orland CA and James Dean Rice (Beverly), Selah, WA, his grandchildren Gina, Katy, Matthew, Timothy, Travis, Kurtis, William and Courtney, nine great-grandchildren, nephews Steve Rice, Ken Rice, niece Noreen (Rice) Wallace-Hines, their mother Arleen Hines, nephews Bruce Beloit and Tim Beloit, and stepsisters Kathleen Mattice Spillman (Hollis), Bonnie L. Mattice and Mary C. (Tina Mattice) Wallace.

After a stint in the US Navy, Jerry worked at various jobs, his final being for the Army Corp of Engineers at Black Butte Lake in Orland CA. He was a longtime member of the Orland Chatter Boxes C. B. Club and a San Francisco 49ers fan.
