Obituary

Joan Katherine Walker Aguiar, 84 passed away on January 26, 2021 at Enloe Hospital due to complications of COVID-19. Joanie was born October 13, 1936 to parents Robert Lester Walker and Helen Evelyn Greenlalgh Walker of Kirkwood. She attended the Kirkwood School and graduated from Orland High School in 1955. She married James Edward Aguiar on September 9, 1956. Together they raised four children on Aguiar Ranch in Orland.

The Walker family owned the land where used to stand the Kirkwood Church, which was built by her great grandfather, James William Walker. Many family memories were made in Kirkwood, in and around the Church.

Joanie was active in her Church, St. Dominic's of Orland serving on the Altar Society for a time and teaching Catechism to the children. She worked as a meat cutter at Graham's Market in Orland and later became trained as a Hospice volunteer at Enloe Hospital.

She was beautiful inside and out and the most sweet and caring person anyone could ever meet. We will miss you so much Mommy.

Joanie is survived by her daughter, Jolleen (Mike) Whitsett, a son Jeffery (Tana) Aguiar of Orland and Son In Law, James Lodge of Orland. Two sisters, her best friend Carol James if Chico and Linda (Wayne) Scholl of Tacoma WA, her brother, Gary (Kathy) Walker of Chico, five grandchildren, and five beautiful great granddaughters along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Son Joseph (1989) and daughter, Janie (2009).

Due to COVID-19, her service will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude's. Arrangements are under the direction of Sweet- Olsen Family Mortuary in Orland.
