LaFerne Sousa, 77, of Orland, passed away on the afternoon of February 10th, 2024, of natural causes.

She was born in Willows, California on September 15, 1946, to Ken Sharp and Wynona Akins. She was the eldest of six children and a longtime resident of the Orland area where she raised several generations of family.

LaFerne was a devoted mother, grandmother, big sister, cousin and aunt and her whole life revolved around her family. She is also often described as everyone's best friend, but especially by her younger siblings with whom she held extremely close and cherished bonds. She absolutely adored her mother and following in her legacy, she became a master in the art of crocheting, completing hundreds of treasured creations. She was an avid reader and found solace in the world of romance novels. She also loved her animals and doted over her many dogs with great affection. She proudly embraced traditional values, was God fearing, hardworking and unapologetically conservative in her views. Last but not least, she was a self-proclaimed "daddy's girl" and to say she loved her father immensely would be an understatement.

LaFerne is survived by her siblings, Ken "Jake" Sharp, Judy Alves, Kathy Donnelley, Marshall Galbraith and Marsha Galbraith; children, Kim McLeod, Mark McLeod, Dustin Olson and Chad Olson; grandchildren, Sara Wiles, Dustin Olson, Jr., Danika McLeod, Trever Olson, Mason Schulze-Olson and Jaden Olson; and great grandchildren Weston Olson and Peyton Olson.

Her funeral service will be held at 12PM PST on Friday, February 23, 2024 at the Oddfellows Cemetery in Orland, California.
