Margaret was born in Hitchin, Hertfordshire England. Her mother was a young British woman married to an American Army Air Corp serviceman. When she was six months old she and her mother came to the USA on the Queen Mary as part of the "Brides and Babies" journey bringing war brides back from Europe, they landed in New York and came across to Orland by train.
Margaret grew up in Orland attending the Orland schools. Following high school, she started attending Santa Rosa Junior College. Her college career was interrupted when she met and married her husband and started raising her family, during that time she served as both a Blue Birds/Camp Fire Girls leader and later Cub Scout Den Mother. She was always interested in education and while raising her family she attended college part time graduating from Chico State College in 1977. She earned her Teaching credential, Library Services credential and finally her Master's Degree in 1993. She taught pre-school for head start and was a Butte College instructor for over 20 years. She was elected to the Glenn County Educators' Hall of Fame in 2007. She was very active in her service to God, singing in the church choir, teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, serving as Sunday School Superintendent and Education Director.
Margaret suffered a severe stroke in 2006 that left her totally paralyzed on her left side. Nevertheless, she continued teaching at Butte College for several years after the stroke. She traveled extensively visiting the East Coast on 4 different occasions, to Europe and
Mexico. She was able to attend graduations for grandchildren, birthday celebrations and many other events. She never lost her love for life, her Savior, her family, or her friends.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Tor Noraas, her sons, Erik and Trygve, and daughter, Kristina. Her other son, Kjell, predeceased her.
