Obituary

It is with great sorrow, that we announce the passing of our sainted mother and grandmother,
Marianne Fidgeon Krantz. She passed away peacefully, at home, surrounded by her family on
June 14th, 2021.

Marianne Fidgeon Krantz was born January 12th, 1946 to Francis John Fidgeon, (Pop), and
Agnes Catherine Cahill, (Mickey). She was the second born of four children. Growing up in
Connecticut, she had many great adventures and memories on the east coast. Going to Coney
Island, ice skating, learning to drive in the snow, and even temporarily losing her younger
brother Matt on the subway in New York City. Marianne overcame many obstacles as a child,
surviving polio, and caring for her mother who had multiple sclerosis. She graduated from
Waterbury Catholic High in 1964.

Chasing warmer weather, her family moved to California for a short time, where she met her
husband Jim, at a New Years Eve party. They were married February 24th, 1968, and two
children soon followed. After a short time living in Texas, Marianne and Jim began raising their
family in San Mateo, Ca. They finally settled in Orland, Ca. In 1979. Marianne started her career
at Johns Manville soon after, working there for over forty years. During her time there, she
pursued her love for learning and went back to college. She studied Organizational Behavior at
the University of San Francisco, earning her BA. Then graduated with her Master of Business
Administration at California State University of Chico in 2001. Marianne was an inspiration to
many to continue their education, work hard, and never give up. She could solve any problem
and loved any opportunity to help others solve theirs. Simply brilliant, her success was
immeasurable due to her natural kindness and eagerness to help everyone.

Marianne was a member of the Glenn County Democrat Central Committee, an avid gardener,
and an adventurous grandma. Her love of gardening introduced many generations of student
gardeners. One of her favorite past times was touring beautiful gardens. She loved taking her
grandkids on trips to museums, the zoo, exposing them to theatre and the arts. She always sang,
told stories, and made every car trip fun. She has left a legacy of traditions, favorite recipes,
songs, stories, and love of adventure passed on to her children and grandchildren. Full of witty
anecdotes, one of her favorites, (passed down from her Pop), was "It's always easy if you know
it."

Marianne is preceded in death by her husband James Russell Krantz Jr.; sister, Judy Bloom; and
brother, Timothy Fidgeon. She is survived by her daughter, Betsy Krantz; son, Jon Krantz
(Ariel); grandchildren, Courtney Krantz (Nick), Cameron Freer, Connor Krantz, Cevynn Krantz;
great grandchildren, Carlee Wilkins, Jemma Melville, and Axxel Melville, all of Orland
California. Her brother Matthew Fidgeon (Connie) of Seattle Washington; numerous nieces,
nephews, and treasured framily.

A celebration of life will be held at Sweet-Olsen Mortuary at 825 A. Street in Orland, on Friday
June 25th, at 1:00 p.m. with a reception immediately following in the Arts and Craft building at
the Fairgrounds.
