MARILYN REHSE
A memorial service will be held at First Lutheran Church in Willows at 11AM on November 4, 2017 for Marilyn Rehse, 90, who passed away on October 13, 2017 in Chico, California. Marilyn Fay Bankert was born on August 25, 1927 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to William F. and Mary J. Bankert. She attended Vallejo High School and received her teaching credential from UC Berkeley. She was married to her husband, Alvin, for 58 years until his death in 2009. She taught at Orland Junior High School, was a
reporter for the Orland Press-Register, a secretary for the Glenn County Court Conciliator, and served two years on the Glenn County Grand Jury, with one year as foreman. She served for eight years on the board of the Orland Unified School District. A member of the Orland Historical and Cultural Society, she helped organize the Heritage Trail at the Glenn County Fairgrounds, and was part of the committee that moved the caboose and the decommissioned Orland train depot to the Fairgrounds. She was also one of the founders of the annual Glenn County Harvest Festival, and a supporter of Orland Friends of the Library. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Willows, where she held various offices in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She was also a leader for 4-H and the Cub Scouts, and was a booster for the Orland High School sports and the Orland High School Band. She is survived by her children, Roger (Linda) of Santa Clara, Michael of Orland, Carol (Jerry) Jones of Orland, and William of Orland; along with grandchildren Mary (Rob) Morse of Santa Clara, Robert (Jenny) Rehse of Goddard, Kansas; Charles (Christina) Fulton of Chico, and Catherine (Madison) Morehouse of Chico. She also had seven great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband Alvin, and her brother, William B. Bankert. Memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church in Willows, the Orland Historical Society or Orland Friends of the Library. Arrangements are being made by F. D. Sweet and Son of Orland. A private inurnment will be held.
