Obituary

Mike Harlow, 76, passed away on October, 28 th 2019 of a sudden stroke. Mike was born in 1943 and raised in the town of Port Chicago, California by his mother and stepfather. He had a large and loving family of two sisters, three step siblings, half- sister and -brother and many dear friends whom he admired greatly.

Mike was married shortly after high school and was blessed with three daughters and two sons whom he raised in Orland. Being a Dad was one of his proudest feats. In 1991 he divorced, and in 2000 he met the love of his life - Linda Cavanaugh, when he knocked on her front door to pick up his youngest son, who was best friends with her son. From that moment on, Mike spent the next 19 years in a loving partnership with Linda; they were devoted to each other and shared a deep affection until his last breath.

Mike earned his teaching credential at Chico State and proceeded to teach English and History at a middle school in Red Bluff for 22 years. He was loved by his students who spoke fondly of him and shared the impact he had made on their lives for years to come.

Mike's lifelong hobbies included admiring and tinkering on old cars, building and re-building cabins in the mountains, bottling pomegranate wine, wood working, stained glass, family croquet tournaments, taking on "too many projects", caring for his chickens, camping, and collecting friends wherever he went.

Mike was deeply loved and cherished by all whom he had the opportunity to meet. His humor, compassion, happiness, and patience will be dearly missed, but not forgotten.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 9th at 1:00 pm at Jax Bar located at the Berry Patch on Hwy 32 at Interstate 5 in Orland, California. His family encourages you to come share your fondest memories of an incredible man.

"I thank God every day for the wonderful life I was given. I was never bored a day in my life and always had more things to do than could be done and that was the way I liked it. I had an assortment of the most unusual and talented friends. Most of my enjoyment came from working on some project and getting it a little more complete and most of those projects were outside, and of course none of them were ever finished. " – Mike in a recent email to his sister Julie
