Obituary

Otto Max Wackerman passed away in his home on September 1, 2018. Otto was the second of three sons of Otto and Martha Wackerman. Upon graduation from Turlock High School in 1944, Otto immediately reported for duty and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. While Otto was in the Navy, his family purchased a dairy on Highway 32 and moved to Orland. After returning from the war, a chance meeting with a cute little Norwegian, Elsie May Dragseth, changed his life. Otto successfully operated the dairy, together with his brother John, until his retirement from dairy farming. Otto then used his agricultural knowledge to grow amazing fruits and vegetables.
Otto is preceded in death by his brother, Albert August Wackerman. He is survived by his brother, John Otto Wackerman; his loving wife of over 66 years, Elsie (Dragseth) Wackerman; his three adoring daughters, Carol Anderson (Phil), Sandi Sherman (Gary Laughlin), and Cathy Edgar (Charlie); his five grandchildren, Tara Olivieri (Chris), Tanya Persky (Kyle), Jake Edgar, Brant Edgar (Keri), and Max Sherman. Otto was delighted by his six great grandchildren, Cooper, Sassa and Tatum Olivieri of Irvine, CA; Trajan and Natalia Persky of Lodi, CA, and Penelope Edgar of Durham, CA. Many nieces, nephews and other family, and countless friends, completed Otto's full and loving life.
Otto brought an immense intelligence, a loving heart and a razor sharp wit to every occasion. He will be greatly missed!
A memorial service for Otto will be held at The Federated Church of Orland on Saturday, September 29th, at 10am. Coffee and desserts will be served immediately after the ceremony.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the First Lutheran Church in Orland, California.
