Reggie F Olney passed away at his home in Orland California on February 10, 2026, with his family by his side. Reggie was born on March 2nd, 1939, to parents William and Mary Olney.
Reggie moved to Orland in 1947 and started class as a second grader at Mill Street School. After attending Orland High School, he married his high school sweetheart Rosalie Jones on June 30th, 1957. 1958 Reggie started his own business as a labor contractor that would last some fifty years. In 1974-1977 he coached CYO basketball and served on the Orland Football Chain gang. During this time, he also worked as a rancher, raising beef cattle.
Feeling the need to serve his community, he joined the Orland Volunteer Fire Department and served for ten years. He was also elected to the Orland Water Users' Board of Directors and served for eight years, several of those years as the President of the Board. Reggie also became interested in another service club: Orland Moose Family Center #1901, a philanthropic organization that contributes approximately $75 million worth of community service annually. Reggie worked hard and it paid off. He was honored with his Family as the International Moose Family of the year in 1994. He was awarded the Moose International Shining Star Award as Top Administrator of Moose International in 1996 and was first runner-up in 1998. This was in competition with 2,864 Moose Lodges nationwide. In 1997 he was awarded the highest degree in the Order of Moose International: the Pilgrim Degree. In 2002, Reggie received the Moose International Shining Star for Moose of the Year, out of over one and a half million members. He also served California and Nevada Moose International for over five years and was Top Director for two of those five years. Reggie was also recognized for his local service when he was awarded the True American Hero Award for exemplary community service at the 2000 Glenn County Fair.
Reggie Retired in 2010, handing his business over to his son.
In 2016 he was awarded Orland alumni of the year.
He enjoyed traveling with his kids and grandkids, having monthly family dinner, gardening, and watching sports with his dog (Bear) by his side. He was loved and respected by so many people he met.
He left behind his wife Rosalie Olney of 68 Years, 7 Children Reggie E Olney, Richard Olney (Debbie), Rosemarie Olney, Jim Devor (Connie), Roxanne Hendry (Mike), Roberta Olney and Rebecca Olney, 19 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, brother William Olney, and sister Marie Parshall. He was preceded in death by his son Ronald Olney on August 24, 2024, parents William and Mary Olney, brother James Olney, sister Josephine Marshall, and daughter-in-law Jetonne Olney.
