Obituary

Regina Greer

November 23, 1938 to June 14, 2021

Regina Greer died peacefully in her sleep at her Hamilton City home on June 14, 2021. She was 82.

Born on November 23, 1938 to Jack and Clara Rost in Fairfield, CA, Regina grew up in Willows, CA, attending public schools, and in 1965, married Robert "Ralph" Greer, with whom she shared a long and loving marriage for 55 years until his recent passing in 2020. She and Ralph raised four boys in Chico, CA.

With an abiding love for animals, Regina owned and cared for a wide assortment of animals over the years, including birds, fishes, cats, dogs, pigs, goats, tortoises, and any odd creature here and there that needed care. The love and appreciation she showed for animals extended to every person she met and, as was the case, every person she met, easily became her friend. She never forgot acts of kindness, which she often paid in kind again and again. She particularly enjoyed her work over the years with organizations that serve our area's adults with developmental disabilities.

Regina will be long missed by those who knew and loved her. She is survived by her two sisters Jackie Cox and Penny Thompson as well as her four sons Tim Lane, Tony Greer, Danny Greer, and Michael Greer. Along with her husband Robert, she is preceded in death by brothers Tony Martin, Bill Martin, and John Rost and sisters Josephine Martin and Jean Hailstone.

An informal graveside memorial gathering is planned for this Friday, July 9, at 10:00 a.m., at Willows Cemetery (south lawn), where Regina's ashes will be interred. Anyone who knew Regina is invited to attend and share in her remembrance. In lieu of flowers, donations in Regina Greer's name can be made to Wags and Whiskers Pet Rescue in Chico: http://www.wagsandwhiskerspetrescue.com/donate-1.html.
