Robert (Bob) Edwin Long died on May 29 ^th , 2022 in Orland, California at the age of 85.  Born in San Francisco on January 4 ^th , 1937 to Elizabeth R.  and Edwin S. Long.  He grew up in Sausalito, California and attended Marin Catholic High School and College of Marin.

He was employed by Pacific Telephone Company for 31 years as a maintenance supervisor and staff manager (retired).  He then was employed by the Mill Valley School District for 22 years as a courier and a general aide to the staff.  As a community volunteer, he was a member of the Strawberry Recreation District Board for 14 years, and was also the Windy Gap captain for the Annual Dipsea Race for 55 years.  As a member of the Air Force Reserve, Bob served is country for 8 years.

His beloved wife of 49 years, Joanne W. Long, passed away in 2010. They were long time residents of Mill Valley (Strawberry) California. Both are survived by daughters Patricia A. Turnbull (Ian) and Michele E. Long and 4 grandchildren, Jacob A. Turnbull (Samantha), Daniel H. Turnbull (Karah), Jack P. Long and Quinn J. Long, and great grandchildren, Allison L. Turnbull, and Bennet W. Turnbull.

At his request, there will be no services. Donations in his memory may be sent to the Dipsea Race Foundation and St. Vincent's School for Boys, San Rafael.
