Robert "Bob" Stanley Nordbye was born August 23rd, 1954. Bob joined his brothers, Jim and Bill, his sister Susie and his parents Stan and Pauline in heaven on January 22nd, 2020.
Bob was born in Willows at Glenn General Hospital. He lived most of his life in and around the Orland area. After his tour through the Orland school system he moved to Chico and attended Butte College. He eventually returned to Orland where he joined his father in the family business, building and remodeling homes. In early 1977 he Married Karen Shriver. In October of that year they welcomed their son Stephen. A few short years later, December of 1982 their daughter Kiersten was born.
Bob continued working with his father Stub, and subsequently took over the family business after Stubs retirement. Bob constructed numerous, beautiful homes in the Orland and Northern California area. In the early 1990's he and Stub purchased and subdivided a plot of land near the Orland Airport. Together they built a new family home and Bob added farming to his resume, after planting a small olive orchard. After he and Karen divorce d, Bob focused his time on his business and raising his children whom he cherished.
In 1997, his longtime friends, Pam and John Otterson, introduced him to the person he was missing in his life, Darolyn Gonzales. Bob and Darolyn's relationship blossomed and they were engaged to be married. Bob sold his home and moved in with Darolyn cementing their love for one another. Bob and Darolyn shared a love of animals, together they created a varitable zoo of dogs, cats and horses. They enjoyed traveling together, Mexico, the wine country, the California Coast and their favorite, Hawaii.
Bob's life was cut short as he passed away unexpectedly leaving behind a very loving family. Bob is survived by Darolyn, Stephen, Kiersten along with her husband Jered, his grandchildren Ethan and Ainsley, Lee Gonzales and his fiancé Josilen his grandchildren Cindy and Tyler, Shaylynn and her husband Brett Low.
As we grieve his passing, we ask you to join friends and family on Friday January 31st, 11:00AM at the First Lutheran Church in Orland to celebrate the life of Bob Nordbye. If you have any SF Giants apparel, please feel free to wear it proudly.
Although Bob had a love for plants and flowers, the family requests a donation to the Fisher House Charity in lieu of flowers.
