Ronald Leland
Alban
Jul 25, 1934 — Jan 11, 2021
Ronald Leland Alban died on January 11, 2021 of complications recovering from a hip replacement surgery. He was 99 years old (he was really 86 years old but wanted to live to 99). Ron was born to Neil and Grace Alban on July 25, 1934 in Pilot Mound, IA. He was third of five children.
Ronald attended grade school in Pilot Mound, IA and then moved to Ogden where he finished his schooling. He worked at the Ogden Reporter throughout his high school years. He met Carla Jean Menough from Boone, IA when he was only a junior in high school. She turned out to be his one and only. They were married on May 21, 1954. From this union there were 5 children- three boys and two girls. In 1956 they packed up everything they owned and moved to Orland CA, where Ron was employed by the Orland Unit.
Later he bought the Flying A Service Station on Third and Walker St. He bought his partner out a year later. He closed the Station and built office spaces and an Auto Repair Shop. He got his contracting license and spent the rest of his working years in the construction business. Ron spent many enjoyable hours coaching his boys in Little League Baseball. He was a member of the Orland Jaycees, Orland Volunteer Fire Department and Arch Club. He was a man of many talents, which included writing, photography, barbequing and cooking. He really enjoyed going to NASCAR races, hanging at his shop telling jokes with his buddies, and creating things with his hands. Once he retired, he loved spending his time Rv-ing and fishing with his one and only love of his life. He also enjoyed watching sports. He was an amazing caregiver to his wife, who he would do anything for. In fact, that was the kind of man he was, he would do anything for his family and friends.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents Neil and Grace Alban, two sons, Gregory Neil and Randall Dean, a son in-law, Craig LaRen Myers, his siblings Rua, Keith, James, and Gary and also his two dachshunds Porky and Porkchop. He leaves behind his wife Carla, his children Sherry Myers (Craig), Brian Alban (Melody0, Brenda Alban, and 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren. As our mom would say, "When god made him, he threw away the mold." We would like to thank all the nurses and Doctors at Enloe hospital, Windsor Chico Creek, and Windsor Chico Care that took wonderful care of our Dad. At this time services are private and under the direction of Sweet- Olsen Family Mortuary.
