Obituary

In Loving Memory of Terry Ervine Ratliff Sr.

On June 9, 2026, our hearts were broken when we said goodbye to Terry Ervine Ratliff Sr. Terry passed away peacefully at his home in Orland, California, with his loving wife by his side. While we grieve his loss, we also celebrate a life well lived—a life marked by hard work, sacrifice, laughter, and unwavering love for his family.

Terry was born on November 9, 1955, in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, to Ervine and Della May Ratliff. From an early age, he developed the strong work ethic and determination that would define him throughout his life.

Terry proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, carrying with him the values of strength, loyalty, and perseverance. He spent much of his working life as a mechanic and truck driver, traveling countless miles across the country and providing for the family he loved so deeply.

He was a man who could fix almost anything. Whether working on engines, roofing, siding, landscaping, electrical projects, or helping a friend in need, Terry always found a way to get the job done. He never hesitated to lend his hands or his time.

More than anything, Terry was a family man. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His children and stepchildren knew him as a constant supporter, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of his life.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Ervine and Della May Ratliff; his brother, Dennis Ratliff; and his sisters, Anne Ratliff and Linda Ratliff Miller.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Lori Ratliff; daughter Melinda Ratliff Arambula and grandchildren Jonathon (Melanie), Austin, Curtis, and Kaitlyn, as well as great-grandchildren Declan, Liam, and Finn; son James Ratliff and wife Kerry, and grandchildren Malyia and Ethan; son Terry Ratliff Jr. and wife Kaila, and grandchildren Hayden and Teegan.

Stepchildren include Elizabeth Brown and husband Tony, and her children Keith, Toby, and Gavin; Babetta Staup and husband Chris, and their children Cody (Heather), Tyler, and Kyle, as well as great-grandchildren Cayde, Rhett, and Asher; Nick Wolverton and wife Alyssa, and their children Kristina, Quentin, Jasper, and Henry, as well as great-granddaughter Leilani; and Charlee Brady and husband Tim, and their daughters Ruby and Clara.

He is also survived by his siblings Helen Dolinger, Sally Absher, Paul Ratliff, and Anita Miller, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Terry will be remembered as strong but kind, hardworking but humble, and always willing to help others.

Rest easy, Terry. Your work here is done, your miles have all been traveled, and your journey home is complete.

Arrangements are held under the direction of Sweet-Olsen Family Mortuary.
