WILBUR AUGUST VOLZ
Wilbur August Volz, 89, of Orland was born November 18, 1929 in Neillsville, WI to Robert and Velmer Volz. He passed away on December 3, 2018 at Enloe Hospital in Chico. Family, friends, and others whose lives he touched are invited to a celebration of his life on Saturday, December 29th at 2:00 pm at the Orland Moose Lodge, 605 5th Street, in Orland.

He attended school in Neillsville and moved to Wisconsin Rapids, WI in 1948, working at service stations and the paper mill until 1960 when he became owner of Volz Enco on 8th Street South. On September 4, 1948 he married Kathleen Hall and they had five children, Steven, Robyn, Susan, Robert, and Patricia.

In August 1965 they moved to Orland, CA where they have resided ever since. There he worked as Assistant Manager at King Dollar, at Hydro Conduit, drove semi-truck for Byron Royce, partnered with Royce in Western Tire, Royce & Volz Surplus Sales, and Orland Radiator. In 1973 he opened Volz Radiator which he operated until 1994 when he retired, selling the business to his son, Steve. He continued working there part-time for many years.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman most of his life and he and Katie enjoyed many years of RV travel as well as time with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Kathleen of Orland; sons Steve of Orland and Robert (Shirley) of Willows; daughters Susan (Jim) Long and Patricia Ball, all of Orland; 14 grandchildren, Jean Volz, Laura Volz, Stephanie (Luke) Andrews, Amy (Christian) Santos, Ryan Ball, Jim (Kelly) Long Jr., Lisa McDilda, Tim (Melissa) Volz, Jeri (Scott) deWit, Michael (Rose) Torres, Frank (April) Torres, Sarah Ball, Albert (Charlotte) Ball, and Melinda (J.D) Flournoy; 21 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; his twin brother, Willis (Jeanne) Volz of Neillsville, WI; sister-in-laws, Jan Volz of Glendale, AZ and Morgan Harris of Orland; brother-in-law, Rodger Northrup of WI; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Robyn; parents, Robert and Velmer Volz; great-grandson, David Ball; brothers, George, Harry, Lester, Gerald, and Ray; sisters, Florence, Marcella, Deloris, and Iva Lou.
